New beginnings, shared memories with friends and family, and wondering what New Year’s Eve party ideas will turn the traditional into the trend-setting. New Year’s Eve…what to do…what to do? Is this the year to avoid battling the cold and celebrate at home? Or does the roar of the crowd call out to you–Come, Come Ring in the New Year at a Des Moines celebration!
New Year’s Eve Party Ideas They’ll Talk About For Years
Black Light Party
Decorate one room with black lights and glow sticks, available at your local party store. Make sure to tell your guests to wear light-colored or white clothing. Tonic water glows under a black light so give ice cubes made from tonic water a try. Neutral-toned foods like hummus and pasta also react to the light. Paint black construction paper with UV-reactive paint and you’ll have a nightclub right there in your living room.
We Diet Tomorrow…We Eat Tonight
Ringing in the New Year means lots of resolutions. But before we give up our favorite foods and head to the gym, let’s indulge one last time. Desserts, fast food– whatever the vice, have lots of it. We’ll think about that diet, tomorrow.
Meet Me At Noon Party
For the friends and kids who can’t make it until midnight, turn a New Year’s party into a tasteful Noon Year’s party. Brunch, Bloody Mary’s and “mocktails” are just the things to start the year off right. Craft some paper noisemakers, hand out some paper and pens and have everyone jot down a few resolutions that the host can bring out next year, arrange a scavenger hunt to keep the little ones busy. Fun doesn’t have to stop on December 31.
Whatever theme you choose, don’t forget the basics— noisemakers, party hats, confetti, a specialty drink, light snacks, and fun goody bags with hot chocolate in a to-go cup for your guests to enjoy on the way out.
